Appraisal Interviewing

Make appraisal effective

Organisations are increasingly recognising that ‘appraisal’ is vital to the success of the business and to the development of employees. It is also a key tool for personal development planning and identifying individual, team and corporate training needs. This course focuses on how to get the most from appraisal – a key part of the wider performance management picture. As the effectiveness of appraisal rests largely with the skill of the manager, our training covers the key skills necessary to succeed in carrying out constructive interviews and reviews that motivate and support performance in the workplace. The methods include group work, tutor input, scenarios and role play. The training is often based on the organisation’s appraisal/review system. For support with wider Performance Management frameworks and issues, please refer to our Performance Management course and/or our Human Resource and Management Consultancy Service.
