Assertion Training

An essential life skill for Managers and Staff

During the training days we explore Assertion as a life skill, with particular emphasis on using it at work. Delegates discover a range of techniques and skills, based on a common understanding of assertion and how this behaviour differs from submission and aggression. They uncover the benefits of being assertive, of feeling secure, confident, positive and in control, contrasted with the negative effects of the other two behaviours, for themselves, others, their clients and the organisation. In particular it enables delegates to identify specific work-related situations where they want to change their behaviour to improve their effectiveness and service delivery. They are then given lots of opportunity to practice skills to communicate in a more confident and effective way.

At the end of the course, delegates will have improved their effectiveness in communicating with and influencing others. They return to work knowing how to communicate in a clear, direct style, appropriately, without being aggressive, demanding or submissive, or letting others get their own way at their expense.

If you can think of times when you wished you could have reacted differently, this course could be just the opportunity you need to try out different ways of behaving!
